International Development Committee Evidence: Alternative Financing Options for International Development

On Tuesday 26 March 2024, Ian Mitchell was invited to give evidence to the UK’s International Development Committee on “alternative financing” for international development’s biggest challenges, from food insecurity and famine to climate change.

The session sought to increase understanding of the role of British Investment Partnerships in reducing the finance gap and supporting the UK to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Ian was one of three non-governmental experts in development finance and delivery to take part, and answered questions around topics including the role of guarantees in mobilising finance; how private investment is (or isn’t) contributing to delivering the SDGs and the failure of “billions to trillions”.
