Research Assistant, Middle East and Central Asia Region / Development Financing

The Center for Global Development (CGD), an independent, non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC seeks a research assistant to provide support to the President in the areas of economics, financial policy, and current affairs relating to the countries of the Middle East and Central Asia; as well as supporting a Visiting Fellow in his research on development financing.

General responsibilities:

  • Compile and synthesize data from various sources, including multilateral institutions, financial institutions, and country websites;
  • Follow academic and policy literature on development financing and provide periodic updates on current trends;
  • Track and analyze development financing data;
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations;
  • Prepare meetings, including issues briefs, background materials and talking points;
  • Deliver thoughtful, insightful summaries of important developments and trends in the Middle East region;
  • Assist with other research, writing, and analysis tasks as assigned.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics or related discipline;
  • Minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a U.S. scale or equivalent;
  • Strong demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the Middle East;
  • Demonstrated research skills;
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills;
  • Arabic or French language skills are a plus.
