Paddy Carter was a Research Fellow at CGD Europe. He has a PhD in the economics of foreign aid from Bristol University where he was also a British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellow. He has published in leading economics journals, including the Journal of International Economics, the IMF Economic Review, and the European Economic Review. Paddy was previously a Senior Research Fellow for development strategy and finance at ODI, where he specialised in aid allocation and the private sector development strategies of donors, particularly the role of Development Finance Institutions. Before taking his PhD, Paddy spent a decade as an equities analyst at London-based stockbrokers and a financial journalist.
