Andrew Mirelman is a Research Fellow in the Global Health Economics group at the University of York’s Centre for Health Economics (CHE). His research deals with economic evaluation and policy evaluation of public health topics in low and middle-income countries. He worked to calculate the cost-effectiveness of implementation estimates for the Millions Saved 3rd Edition and also currently works on developing methods for including equity into economic evaluation, and estimation of opportunity costs, as part of the International Decision Support Initiative (iDSI). He is also currently developing work around the health economic understanding of multi-sectoral policies for health such as fiscal policies and social protection.
He obtained his PhD from the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2014 where his dissertation looked at the economics of chronic disease in rural Bangladesh. Prior to that, he completed his MPH at Johns Hopkins in 2009 with a concentration in comparative health systems.
