Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is associated with almost 5 million deaths a year. It is an urgent health crisis. Fixing the antimicrobial market to ensure sustainable global innovation, access, and stewardship is a key lever in the fight against AMR, especially to address the disproportionate burden of AMR in low- and middle-income countries. A Center for Global Development working group, A New Grand Bargain to Improve the Antimicrobial Market for Human Health, has brought together stakeholders from across the world to discuss both the political and operational steps needed to ensure access to and stewardship of affordable and effective antimicrobials.

Join CGD for the virtual launch of the working group’s final report. The discussion will focus on next steps to implement the policy recommendations and build consensus on collective priorities in the lead-up to next year’s United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on AMR—a key opportunity to set priorities and accelerate policy change.
