China’s Prospects: A Perspective from the World Bank Country Director

Center for Global Development

China has been the most successful developing country over the past two decades, growing rapidly and achieving the fastest poverty reduction in history. While there are good reasons to think that China could continue to grow rapidly for two more decades, the country also faces serious challenges. On June 28, 2005 David Dollar presented his views on China’s achievements and the challenges ahead. CGD Senior Fellow Peter Timmer followed the keynote presentation with commentary.
