Republicans Huddle Amid DACA Standoff (Politico)

TRUMP’S WHITER IMMIGRATION SYSTEM: Two tenets of Trump’s immigration framework — slashing family-based visas and ending the diversity visa lottery — would have the biggest negative effects on black and Hispanic immigration, according to an analysis published this week by the pro-immigration Center for Global Development. “A big share of the immigrants in those categories come from Latin America and Africa, so they would be disproportionately affected if those visas disappear,” Ana Campoy writes in Quartz. “The number of Hispanic and black immigrants who come under those two programs would drop by more than 60 percent under the proposed changes; the number of white immigrants, by 43 percent, according to the center’s data.” Read the analysis here and the Quartz piece here.
